St. Joseph - A Weekend in the Rain
We decided to take a family weekend trip to St. Joseph this weekend. We rented a house near the beach of Lake Michigan. Who would have guessed that it would rain the ENTIRE time we were there! Seriously, I don't think we had a moment without at least a sprinkle. We made the most of our time though and had a lot of fun hanging out in the rain.
We did miss our brother Will and his wife Kristin, who are out in Montana. We love you guys!

Aunt Jennifer had a chance to snuggle up with Brianna for a nap.

Brianna and Casey at lunch. Brianna had the cutest little ponytail.
Jeremy and Mom did not let the rain stop them from going on a walk along the beach to the boardwalk. They were so wet from walking through ankle deep water by the time they got to the edge that they tried to call us to pick them up. Oops, we forgot to answer our phones!

Sleeping. . .
Daisy was so tired and happy to be home after a weekend with the puppy sitter. This is her couch in the extra room where she sleeps while we are on the computer. Yes, she is actually sleeping like this.

Toronto
This was our 4th annual trip to the Toronto Film Festival. This marks our 3rd year as a couple and a year since we got engaged, awwwww. . .
In case you did not know, I am terrible with directions. Here I am trying to figure out the map of downtown over lunch.
Dressed up for dinner and a film. Here we are just after a French meal at Marcels before seeing Disgrace with John Malkovich. It was a opening night and a special Gala presentation. The director and actors came out on stage prior and post to discuss the film.
It was really dark, but this is the beautiful Elgin Theatre.
We stopped by the Royal Ontario Museum to hang out with the dinosaur fossils.
Pulling a rickshaw
Whoa, it is a long way down. . .
We finally found out where some of the celebs were at the festival and had a few star sightings. We saw the lead actress from Lost, some guy that everyone seemed to know but us, and the actor who was in Cocktail with Tom Cruise back in the day. Not to mention meeting John Malkovich at his film premiere. We never ran into Brad Pitt though :(
Here is our infamous photo by the fountain (you might recognize this setting from our save the date card).

Ryan and Daisy's First Road Trip Up North
Camping
This was our first attempt setting up the tent together. Hmmmm, something just doesn't seem right here?
Oh wait, there we go.
We brought the air mattress and Daisy slept right in between us on the bed. She must have been pretty comfortable because she woke us up several times throughout the night with her snoring.
Daisy found a play mate who was more her size. This is Benjamin, Katie and Dan's little one.
Katie, hanging out at the beach.
This was Daisy's first attempt at swimming. She was so afraid, Ryan had to walk her out into the water and set her down. She swam back, but she did not like it one bit. She spent the next 20 mintutes shaking on the sidelines trying to calm down.
Walking through the paths to get to the beach.
Ahhh. . .the sweet smell of the campfire.
BBQ at the Severkoski's
Jamie and Velko had some friends over for a cook out. I made salsa to bring over to the BBQ. Unfortunately, these are not homegrown tomatoes. We only yielded 3 small tomatoes from our plants this year that were used in a previously made salsa. It is not looking good for the rest of the season.
We played BAGGO out in the yard. The guys did pretty well with the game. The girls, on the other hand, did not fair so well. We almost had to start giving away half points for the closest toss to a score. Velko also hooked up the cable outside so we didn't miss out on the opening day of football for MSU, OSU and UofM. Unfortunately, OSU was the only winning team of the day.

Hmmmm. . . corn

I went on a trip to Chicago last week for work. It was actually quite fun, although I wished Daisy and Ryan could have been there. There were approxiamately 20 of us that took the train together. Here we are playing cards and hanging out on the ride there. It took us a little over 4 hours to get there and 7.5 hours to get back, whoa! When I finally got back, in the typical Goot fashion, I got lost trying to get out of Ann Arbor. I stopped at a gas station because I was about to run out of gas in the middle of town. When I tried to leave after filling up, the car wouldn't start! I ended up having to call AAA to come tow the car and Ryan and Daisy had to come save me. Needless to say, it was quite an adventure getting back home. We all finally arrived home at 10 pm with a pizza in hand to make us all feel better.
Progressive took us on a boat cruise for dinner one night. Here is the amazing view of the Chicago skyline from Lake Michigan. We also watched the fireworks off of the Navy Pier at night.
